— People Generation, Inc, the producing and marketing company of Magical Winter Lights®, has received the Tourism Incentive Program (TIP) grant on January 24th in the sum of $15,000 from Houston First Corporation (HFC) and Visit Houston. This award has funded the initiative to promote Magical Winter Lights® as a tourist attraction to leisure visitors outside the greater Houston area, in partnership with the City of La Marque and Fairfield Inn & Suites Texas City.
“We are honored to receive the recognition of Houston First and Visit Houston as a beneficiary of the Tourism Incentive Program,” said Yusi An, founder and president of People Generation. “The grant allows Magical Winter Lights to become more visible to visitors from other parts of the country.”
People Generation plans to utilize the grant with its partners to create tourism marketing packages to promote Magical Winter Lights, specifically attracting visitors from 90 miles outside of central Houston. The packages will help strengthen the festival’s position as a unique tourist destination to visitors, highlighting Houston’s diverse cultural fabric. Last year, the festival brought in more than 200,000 guests, including tourists from all over Texas, California, Louisiana, Mexico, China, among other states and countries.

Magical Winter Lights (MWL) is a world-class attraction, unlike any other holiday lighting events. The festival provides attendees with a one-of-a-kind multicultural experience through giant, artisan-made lanterns, acrobatic performances, amusement rides and games, live entertainment, shopping areas, and an interactive dinosaur exhibit. The 50-day festival, from Thanksgiving to New Year’s in the following year, is one of the largest holiday lighting events in Houston, and the largest lantern festival of its kind to take place in the U.S. The festival draws on average 200,000 families annually to its event grounds that spans over 20 acres of the Gulf Greyhound Park in La Marque, TX.
